The ancient inn, was built around the second half of 1600 along the current provincial road that connected Varese and Milan with the Lake Maggiore, the Alps and Switzerland.
In 1870 the modern structure was added in order to create a hotel more suited to the needs of bourgeois and merchants and transform the old tavern into a formal restaurant. It was managed by a family from Cadrezzate until 2003 when the Timpanaro family bought the old part to turn it into a modern bar for breakfasts and aperitifs. In 2008, they finally restructured the entire structure and created the current Hotel La Locanda with adjacent restaurant.
We are Elisa and Tony, married and with two children, our little pests of 3 and 2 years and waiting for the third one. We have been managing the Hotel La Locanda with love and dedication for 6 years together with our wonderful team of girls (for Tony’s happiness). We are not the classic hotel managers at all. We are playful and informal. We like simple things, small attentions, smiles and looks without too many words, homemade cakes and imperfect pancakes. At the same time, however, we always try to give the best to our customers; let’s try not to miss anything! To succeed in our intent we have created a beautiful team that works with us. Yes, we are a team that we thank every day. Here is a brief presentation:
– Alessia: receptionist and breakfast manager, speaks Italian, English, Spanish and German; our confectioner, designer and photographer. She is the artist of the group, forgetful but fortunately impeccable at work
– Serena: housekeeper and breakfast manager, speaks Italian, English and French; just returned stronger than before after fighting and winning a cancer. She is a machine with continuous charge, she never stops and where she passes, everything shines and shines.
– Samantha: waitress on the floors. Serena’s right arm, able to take her place at all times. Grumpy, yes, but with a desire to work that few have. Careful and precise in everything that does, in every corner she cleans, makes your room perfect.
– Angelica: maid on the floors, speaks Italian, Moldovan and Russian, she is our earthquake. Is somebody running or screaming? … it’s her! She brings us smiles and happiness every day.
– Carmelina: maid service on the floors, speaks Italian and German; patient, calm and attentive. From her apron always turn up tools or products to clean unthinkable corners and impossible spots.
– Alice: receptionist, speaks Italian and English and a pinch of Dutch. She is the little girl of the group, a dentistry student who comes to lend a hand between a lesson and some study. Our Italian-Dutch ginger, precise, attentive to the customer, also with a confectioner’s character, rigorous in observing and enforcing the rules of our hotel.
– Ilaria: receptionist, speaks Italian, English and French. Another grumpy but with an infinite kindness, because of his goodness she is not able to say no and always smiles. She loves cakes too … especially the chocolate ones!
– Daimilys: maid on the floors and in charge of breakfast, speaks Italian, Spanish and English. She is our new entry, the chica caliente of the group, from Cuba but grew up here on the Lake Maggiore. Hardworking, scrupulous and always attentive to customer needs.
